Plastic Free July is all about encouraging more people to make easy eco swaps to live a greener lifestyle, and help the planet to repair from the damage it’s endured over time. We’ve already talked about the environmental impact of switching to bar soap, so in this post, we’re diving in a little deeper with a couple of specific bars we think are a great place to start! Here’s a quick guide for anyone thinking of making the switch to an Eco Warrior Facial bar- trust us, you won’t regret it!
Sensitive cleansing bar
Our Eco Warrior Sensitive Cleansing Bar is an all-around favourite, and one that we think will help make the transition from liquid face wash so seamless and easy.
Perfect for even the most sensitive of complexions, this bar is made with our traditional Mediterranean Castile Olive Oil recipe, and fragranced with a blend of Chamomile and Calendula essential oils. This makes it really super nourishing and amazing at calming skin irritations too. It’s gentle enough to be enjoyed by the whole family- and yes, it’s suitable for the face, unlike many other traditional bar soaps. In fact, all of our bar soaps can be used on the face!
Sensitive skin
Generally speaking, your skin is sensitive if you tend to react adversely to chemicals, dyes or fragrances in products. So if your current facial wash or cleanser brings you out in itchy or sore red patches and bumps, there’s a really good chance your skin is sensitive, and you need to be careful with what you use.
Our Eco Warrior Sensitive Facial bar is totally free from detergents, SLS, sulphates, alcohol, parabens, sorbates, silicones, palm oil and synthetic preservatives. It’s made from 99.9% naturally derived ingredients too, so you know exactly what you’re putting on your skin. Like all our other bars, it’s also plant based, 100% vegan, leaping bunny cruelty free, plastic free and biodegradable too.
This bar isn’t allergy free, so make sure you check the ingredients list to ensure there’s nothing on there that could cause an allergic reaction.
A word on chamomile and calendula essential oils
We’re often asked why we choose the ingredients that we do, and we always try to be as transparent as possible so that you truly understand the products you’re buying. So why chamomile and calendula?
Chamomile is known for its anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties, and studies have found it quite effective in receiving acne, bites and rashes. We combined this with calendula, which is also known to have anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties, and is also very gentle on the skin. Together they create an amazing facial bar to soothe, protect and nourish.

In 2020 we were shortlisted in the Pure Beauty London awards, we were winners in the Eco Lifestyle category of the Beauty Shortlist Awards in 2021 and in 2023 we made it to the finals of the Natural Health Beauty Awards. Beauty Edit Cleansing Bar
The Eco Warrior Beauty Edit Cleansing Bar is pretty special, if we do say so ourselves! This is another great facial bar to try this month as an eco swap- we suspect you won’t want to swap back either!
This one is suitable for the body too, but we get lots of customers telling us how amazing is it for their daily face cleansing routine- so we felt it deserved a mention in this post. Made with the same scrupulous criteria as our other bar soaps, you’ll find no nasties or synthetic fragrances in this one, and definitely no plastic either.
Olive oil and green clay
This bar uses olive oil and green clay for an ultra-nourishing cleanse, and it’s these two ingredients that really make it special.
Olive oil is used for its antioxidant properties, which help to prevent premature ageing when applied to the skin. It also helps to restore smoothness, and vitamin E works to protect against UV light.
And the green clay? We use this to gently exfoliate and remove impurities from the skin, protecting the natural oils from damage, and leaving your skin feeling nourished and hydrated. Green clay can also help to rebalance the skin, improving overall complexion.
